MSIG Takaful 2D Animation Explainer Video
Project overview
Indipixels Productions was commissioned by MSIG Takaful to produce a 2D animated explainer video introducing HLM Takaful i-EduSave Genius — a savings and protection plan designed to help parents secure their children’s future education.
The goal was to translate complex takaful (Islamic insurance) concepts into a visually engaging and easily digestible story for a broad audience. The video needed to feel educational yet approachable, reflecting MSIG Takaful’s brand values of trust, clarity, and care.
Delivered in both English and Malay versions, the explainer aimed to support digital marketing campaigns, corporate presentations, and customer education efforts, all while staying within a two-week turnaround window.
PRODUCTION CHALLENGES
• Tight Two-Week Timeline
From concept to final delivery, the production timeline was extremely limited. Every stage — from scriptwriting to animation and sound — had to be executed with precision, leaving no room for extended revisions.
• Explaining Complex Financial Concepts
Translating takaful structures, benefits, and educational savings elements into simple, engaging visuals was challenging. The messaging had to remain accurate and compliant while still being easy to understand for non-financial audiences.
• Revision and Compliance Review Rounds
All scripts and visuals underwent compliance checks to ensure claims, figures, and wording met internal legal and Shariah standards. Coordinating feedback cycles within such a short schedule added extra layers of challenge.
• Brand Alignment and Visual Consistency
The client required adherence to both MSIG Takaful and HLM Takaful brand guidelines. Balancing the two identities — corporate and educational — required careful color palette, typography, and tone decisions.
Creative Strategy
• Simplify, Visualize, Humanize
We structured the narrative around a relatable family — parents planning for their child’s education — to emotionally connect audiences to the product’s benefits. This approach helped humanize financial concepts and make them easier to follow.
• Icon-Based 2D Animation
The visual style used flat 2D illustrations with dynamic motion transitions. Each concept (protection, savings, future goals) was represented through icons and metaphors — making the story visually engaging while maintaining clarity.
• Optimized Workflow for Tight Deadlines
To meet the 2-week delivery, the team worked in parallel: script and storyboard approvals ran simultaneously with voiceover preparation, and animation began using draft frames before full audio lock. This overlapping workflow maximized efficiency.
Execution & Outcome
• Pre-Production :
Collaborated with the MSIG Takaful marketing team to refine the script, storyboard, and messaging. Established a concise visual direction that combined corporate polish with audience-friendly storytelling.
• Production :
Animation was developed using 2D vector assets, optimized for speed and smooth transitions. Rigged character movements and layered scenes allowed for modular revisions without slowing progress. Both English and Malay voiceovers were recorded in parallel to maintain pacing consistency.
• Post-Production:
Final compositing, color correction, and motion polish were completed within the final week. Audio mixing ensured voice clarity and balanced background music levels for professional broadcast standards.
• Delivery & Reception:
Despite the accelerated schedule, the final video met all compliance standards and visual expectations. The client praised the explainer’s clarity, brand alignment, and energy. The dual-language format enhanced accessibility and reach across multiple marketing platforms.
The explainer is now used by MSIG Takaful as part of their digital campaigns, social content, and agent presentation materials, effectively communicating the value of the HLM Takaful i-EduSave Genius plan in an engaging, easy-to-understand format.
