R.S.V. Animated Educational Explainer Video
Project overview
Indipixels Productions was engaged by The Asian Parent, in collaboration with AstraZeneca, to produce an animated explainer video on Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) — a contagious infection that affects the respiratory tract, especially in infants and young children.
The goal of the project was to simplify a complex medical topic into an engaging, visually clear narrative that could educate parents across Asia. The video needed to communicate key facts about RSV, its symptoms, and preventive measures — while staying compliant with strict pharmaceutical and medical communication guidelines.
PRODUCTION CHALLENGES
• Strict Compliance and Medical Accuracy
As the topic involved a viral infection and healthcare messaging, every visual and script line had to be medically verified. The content went through multiple layers of approval to ensure accuracy and compliance with AstraZeneca’s communication standards.
• Balancing Educational Clarity and Emotional Connection
The explainer needed to deliver scientific information while keeping a compassionate tone that resonated with parents. Maintaining the right balance between informative and empathetic storytelling was a key creative challenge.
• Complex Medical Terminology Simplification
Translating medical jargon into digestible, parent-friendly language without oversimplifying required close collaboration between the client’s medical team and our scriptwriters.
Creative Strategy
• Clarity-Driven Scriptwriting
We worked closely with the client to refine a script that would maintain medical integrity while being easily understood by parents. Each line was reviewed to ensure factual accuracy and emotional relatability.
• Medical Visual Accuracy
Illustrations of respiratory tracts, virus behavior, and prevention visuals were carefully crafted with reference to real medical diagrams and reviewed by healthcare consultants to ensure correctness.
• Compliance Workflow Integration
Every stage — from storyboard to final render — included checkpoints with The Asian Parent’s content team and AstraZeneca’s compliance officers, ensuring smooth alignment and faster approvals.
Execution & Outcome
• Pre-Production :
Collaborated with The Asian Parent’s creative team and AstraZeneca’s medical communications unit to finalize the message structure. Script and storyboard underwent several review rounds to meet both brand and compliance criteria.
• Production :
Animation was executed using a modular approach — characters, scenes, and motion layers were created independently for easy revision and language adaptation. The animation combined visual storytelling with on-screen text for key points, ensuring clarity across multiple platforms.
• Post-Production:
The final phase involved voiceover synchronization, sound design, and subtle graphic enhancements. We optimized visual rhythm to keep viewer engagement high across short attention spans typical of digital audiences.
• Delivery & Reception:
The completed explainer video was rolled out across The Asian Parent’s social and educational platforms. The client commended the video’s accuracy, tone, and simplicity — successfully delivering complex medical information to parents in an engaging, trustworthy format.
